Alva Gardner is a speaker and trainer who uses her unique, lived experience as a woman with a disability to infuse her speeches, training, and consulting work with impactful and real-life examples.
Since her first public speaking gig at 8 years old, Alva has passionately worked to break down people's assumptions and preconceived notions about what it means to live with a disability.
Jordan Smelley is a Mental Health Peer Support Specialist in Texas and a person in long-term recovery from Intellectual and Developmental Differences including Sensory Processing Disorders with Co-occurring Mental Health challenges.
Jordan defines his own recovery in relation to the opportunities available to present and educate the community on topics around supporting individuals with IDD. Jordan is also a candidate for becoming a People Planning Together Trainer.
Shelbi Davenport was blessed with being told NO! Doctors, counselors, and well-meaning teachers set the stage for her to overcome every obstacle in her path. After six long years, Shelbi graduated “Cum Laude” from Texas A&M University.
Shelbi is known nationally for her outspoken advocacy for people with labels to find their rightful place in the community. She brings a wealth of lived experience, exceptional training skills, and has developed her own training curriculums. Shelbi has emerged as a leader, speaker, and planner.
