From age 3 until age 21, Bernard Carabello lived at Willowbrook State School, an institution synonymous with neglect and deplorable conditions. With incredible strength and resilience, Bernard was instrumental in joining with Geraldo Rivera and others in exposing the abuse and neglect that was happening at the institution. Bernard’s voice was at the center of the movement that would eventually close down Willowbrook and institutions across New York State.
Join us to hear Bernard share his legacy and learn how you can help continue his work of making positive changes in the lives of people with disabilities.
The Texas Gathering will be held online via Zoom. Join us, November 9-10, for two days of discussions and practice as we dive deep into strategies to explore the cynical discontent we may be facing in our lives and our work. What steps can we take to change that cynical discontent and look towards a future filled with the possibility for positive change?
